Celebration 70 years National Health Service almost 40 attended
A joint service between the Chapels and the Anglican churches took place last night in Builth Wells. The NHS is a service that comes along side us at the most profound moments in our lives and a service which remains the envy of the World. In the words of Mr Bevan, the founder of the NHS, who was a Welsh Valleys MP "no society can legitimately call itself civilized if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means". The service was taken by Rev Brian Reardon and Mrs Janet Day supported a local nurse and other readers. Annie Jones played the piano for the hymns 'Love Divine all Loves Excelling' and 'All my Hope on God is founded'. The service concluded with a peal of 6 bells to celebrate the 70 years of the NHS. Grateful thanks to all who attended and helped to make this a successful event.
