Anne Jones celebrates receiving the Archbishop of Wales Certificte of Merit in Church Music
His Grace the Archbishop of Wales came to St. Mary the Virgin, Builth Wells, last week, at which, in a united benefice service he awarded Anne Jones (nee Bradley) the Archbishop of Wales certificate of Merit in Church Music. This award cannot be studied for, it is awarded by his Grace to only a select few recipients each year for their outstanding contribution to music in the Church in Wales.
Anne has played the organ in St. Mary's for over seventy years - generations of people have heard her play or unconsciously listened to her at weddings, funerals and baptisms.
People often do not realise that the organist's performance is the culmination of years of study and hours of work. This award is not only well deserved but a deserved recognition of a life of service.
Congratulations to Mrs Anne Jones AWCM! Many stayed behind, after the service to celebrate with Anne and enjoy the wonderful cake.
